For my collage artist, I choose Barbara Kruger. I love her work because it has a vintage feel in the photos but addresses modern issues in the words.
I really like this photo. I think it’s cute and romantic, but also addresses toxicity in relationships and how people can be so enthralled in their significant other without focusing on other things in life. I like this photo because it shows the toxicity of modern beauty standards. How one has to put so much thought and effort into their appearance for the benefit of other people.I love this photo, and not only because it has Paris Hilton, but also because it addresses modern beauty standards again. I think the words and photo contradict themselves though because Paris is very clearly wearing a lot of makeup, which isn’t 100% natural.
CONCLUSION:
I really love the overall feel of these pieces. The words bring a really powerful part of the collage, so my takeaway is to add words to my pieces, especially ones that address modern issues.
