self portraits
- How much did you know about drawing portraits before we started?
not much, i knew very little about overall facial structure of a human as my style is very cartoony
- What process did you go through to produce this piece?
i had to take pictures of my face and trace them for the basic outline and then i had shade it
- In what ways have you gotten better at this kind of work? In what ways can you improve?
i have gotten way better with eyes, nose and other human features aswell as knowing the spaces between the face and where the features are located on the face. i could get better at drawing the overall head shape and ears
- How do you feel about this piece of work? What parts of it do you particularly like? Dislike? Why? What did/do you enjoy about this piece or work?
i enjoy this piece very much, i like what i had to learn in order to make it look like me. i enjoy the hair and the eyes in my piece and how they look. i dislike how i did the ears in my piece as they are too dark. i overall enjoy this piece very much.
- Did you do your work the way other people did theirs? In what ways did you do it differently? In what ways was your work or process similar?
i worked pretty similar to my peers with getting the overall face shape and features and then shading them in. i think i focused on the hair quicker than other characters.
- What’s the one thing that you have seen in your classmates’ work or process that you would like to try in your next piece?
i would like to get better at shading and making my ears better aswell as fixing the hair some more with highlights
- How do artists create detailed portraits expressing the personality of the person that is drawn?
with a refrence photo and using tracing using lights. if they couldnt do that then they could keep the person right infront of them.
