Activist Artist

Zaria Foreman
Zaria Foreman works with pastels to bring to life beautiful icy sceneries. She used her art to show the areas still standing instead of those that are visibly melting. There has been so much death and destruction especially in the past couple of years that when you show someone the bad side of what’s happening they feel used to it. Some people chose to ignore the bad because they don’t want it to be true or they don’t know how to help. With these pieces of art work Foreman shows the happy side that we want to keep. Foreman believes that beauty and happiness pulls people in more than capturing what’s dying. I find this approach intriguing because it’s not one that people tend to take. There’s always a chance of people not fully understanding the message, but our society is so numb that maybe seeing things that make them happy is the only way they will do anything to help.
