Action and Activist

I chose the issue of climate change as it’s something I spend a lot of time reading about and feel connected to it. I spend much time outside and greatly appreciate the beauty in all the little things about nature; over the past year, I have become more aware of and drawn to the sky. I have found myself watching many sunsets and sunrises and noticing how the sky appears to be and the change of the seasons. I have learned through personal research that climate change impacts the sky. Types of pollution cause the sky to appear in different hues of color. I have been taking many photographs and taking note of the sunsets in particular but sunrises as well.
For my project, I did an oil painting of a sunset. I use references from photographs I took in September as I love the sky view during that time of the year. My purpose of the project is to have people see how beautiful the sky is, as it can often be overlooked and taken for granted, but also a motive to take care of your beautiful environment and notice when something looks different.
