Activism artist- Lilah

I chose to research the artist Zaria Forman because I was really drawn to the type of art she creates. I love her overall artistic style of creating hyper-realistic images out of pastels. Her finished works capture striking scenes of mostly water or ice as she aims to portray the sublime beauty of nature. I think she does an amazing job representing every complex reflection, highlight, and dark tone in the icebergs and water. By creating these works of art, Zaria Forman documents climate change and hopes to draw attention to the issue in a way statistics or words cannot. She travels to remote parts of the world to collect real images for inspiration and references. I am intrigued by her approach to the art because she tries to portray the beautiful side of the issue rather than the scary, destructive side. I think this is clever, as many people have become used to the scary statistics and stories on the news, so her stunning art makes a particularly striking statement.
